Here are answers to some of the most common questions. However, if you need more information or would like to discuss your policy, please don't hesitate to call us and speak with one of our helpful agents.

Who bought Wawanesa General Insurance Company?

Wawanesa General Insurance was a U.S. subsidiary of The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, based in Canada. Our former parent company will focus on their home market in Canada and agreed to sell Wawanesa General Insurance to the Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club, an affiliate of the Automobile Club of Southern California. The acquisition was approved by the CA Department of Insurance. We're excited to have the Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club as our new parent company, and to continue to provide our services to our members as a subsidiary company. Rest assured, your Wawanesa policy is unchanged. You'll remain a Wawanesa policyholder with all the discounts, coverages, and terms of your current policy.

Will my policy change?

Your existing Wawanesa policy remains unchanged. This includes coverages, discounts, payment schedules, methods, and your loyalty discount will continue to be applied. You can continue to use your current insurance cards and documents. At any time, you can download these documents in your online account.

Will I be converted to an Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club policy?

No. You'll remain a Wawanesa policyholder with all the discounts, coverages, and terms of your current policy. The policy renewal process will also remain the same. You'll receive a renewal offer from Wawanesa as usual and you can make payments using the same methods.

Do I still contact Wawanesa for any assistance with my policy?

We are proud to be rated by JD Power as the #1 auto insurance provider for customer satisfaction in California for four years running.

Will Wawanesa remain and continue to do business in Oregon?

Wawanesa plans to reevaluate our Oregon programs this year. We continue to maintain policies for our current Oregon members. If we choose not to remain in Oregon, we'll provide ample advance notice to our members there.

Do I need to inform others about an insurance change?

No, your policy with Wawanesa is unchanged so there's no need to inform other entities like your mortgage company, landlord, bank, lender or leasing company since your policy remains unchanged and continues with Wawanesa.

Will my rates increase due to the acquisition?

No, your rates will not be affected by the acquisition. Future rate changes may occur due to various factors, including increasing claims costs, claims history or driving record, but not because of the acquisition. Wawanesa will maintain separate rates from AAA. Our rates and any adjustments will be reviewed and approved by the state Department of Insurance as usual.

Will my billing process or payment plan change?

No, you will continue to receive bills from Wawanesa and make payments using the same methods. If you're signed up for monthly automated payments, you don't need to take any action or make any changes as your automated payment will continue without change.
