The Wawanesa General Insurance Company is headquartered in San Diego, California, and is licensed to offer insurance in California and Oregon. Wawanesa Insurance is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California (Auto Club).

Company History

Wawanesa Insurance was established as a farmers’ mutual insurance carrier in 1896 in Wawanesa, Manitoba, Canada. Wawanesa General Insurance was established in 1974 in California. In 2024, Wawanesa General Insurance was acquired by the Auto Club. Sharing similar values as the Auto Club, Wawanesa Insurance is committed to delivering superior service to our members, offering competitive pricing, and actively supporting our communities.
